So almost immediately after taking Grace home from the hospital, we noticed that there was a problem… she really didn’t like to eat.  This seriously couldn’t be my kid, could it?  I love to eat and would snack all day if I wouldn’t weigh 200 pounds if I did!  This coul...

I delivered two very premature babies with absolutely nothing “wrong” with them (I hate that word but physically and mentally, they were healthy).  They both were required to stay in the hospital until they could take their feeds by bottle and could breathe completely...

Nothing about my pregnancy, delivery or introduction into motherhood was what I had thought it would be like.  I struggled throughout my pregnancy, often feeling like a bad mother before I even was one because of how much I did not enjoy being pregnant.  Hearing other...

After the horror that was the first couple of months’ home with premature twins for us (sigh!), we eventually got the hang of certain things.  The bedtime routine being the most important!  At first, obviously, the cycle of eat, poop, sleep reigns across the land.  Aro...

At Mass General, there were a lot of services available to us that I encourage NICU parents to take advantage of early on in their stay.

  1.  Social Security Benefits-  The Social Worker in the NICU for us was a saint.  She helped explain many of the outside ser...

Not at one point during my entire pregnancy did I ever give one thought to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  For me, it was simply a term I’d occasionally hear on Grey’s Anatomy or Chicago Med.  Our doctors never mentioned it.  I didn’t really know anyone who had deli...
